God is omniscient meaning that he would have foreseen Adam and Eve eating from the tree of knowledge - making the whole ordeal avoidable.

God is omnipotent, so he could have striped Adam and Eve of their new found knowledge - making the event reversible and inconsequential.

So to summarise, we were all disproportionately punished for an act that was avoidable and trivial. Not quite what I was expecting from the creator of 10^20 stars and 10^80 atoms in the known universe.
