Genesis 2 21-22

21And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in stead thereof.

22And the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

I must admit that we took some artistic license with this episode. In the bible, God makes Adam fall asleep & only takes a single rib but exaggeration can sometimes be funny - hope it was this time.

Seriously though, coming second isn't as good as coming first. Eve coming second to Adam can classify women as "second class" in the mind of certain uneducated people. These people would be further justified in Genesis 3:16 where God condemns all women to be man's servants (Gen. 3:16). Unfortunately software wasn't invented at the time; people would have seen Eve's creation as an upgrade to Adam 1.0.

Furthermore, in genetics, one only needs a few cells to clone a being (HowStuffWorks, 2007). So why does God use an entire rib? Maybe God didn't know about genetics… Wait! Isn't God all knowing? This begs another question. If Eve has the same genetic material as Adam, what does that make Eve relative to Adam? I'll stop here as this is the premise to next week's episode…
