15 The princes also of Pharaoh saw her [Sarah] and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.

16 And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and she-asses, and camels.

what is so special about Abram that makes God choose him? We'll see in a few episodes that he is not special at all and is a very poor role model.

Beside why pick one people? Why not pick everyone on Earth? After all aren't we the supposed descendents of Adam and Eve?

No, the purpose of this passage is to provide a divisive force to reinforce cultural and patriotic feelings which help a governing body to maintain control.
